More China - Zhujiajiao

One day I went to visit a typical water town, Zhujiajiao. These towns are made up of canals and people used to mostly rely on fishing but nowadays they are very popular summer resorts for the big city Chinese.

Nihao! - A little bit of China

In November/December I had the great pleasure of going to China for 1 week for work, and stayed a few days extra for fun! Brilliantly chosen dates, this was exactly the same time as Europe stood still due to snow, and I was enjoying some lovely 20C.

I spent most of the time in Shanghai, based in the French Concession. My days were mostly full of work, but I also managed to get to do all the other obligatory and less obligatory stuff:

- midnight foot massages at Dragon fly spa

- eating lots of weird things

- having clothes made up for me

- bargaining for pressies back home

- buying loads of tea flowers and chopsticks

- dinner at M on the Bund (legendary place)

- visit the Peace Hotel on the Bund

- visiting a water town

- going on a super fast train

- see total capitalistic manic shopping in the luxury malls

- having my picture taken by Chinese (probably ended up on many Chinese Facebook pages featuring how odd and weird I looked). I honesty felt I stood out so much anyways, so said "s***w it" and wore high heels and all!

Looking forward - Summer in Geneva!

Spring is now here, and the city of Geneva is once again coming to life after months when everyone's been off to chalets during the weekends.

The lake sidewalks have open their cafés and ice cream bars, and the boats are getting ready to jump into the pool!

This reminds me of how great Geneva is in the summer. Everything focuses around the lake where you have 2 outdoor cinemas, parks, beaches, bars, etc.

Epic night out at the Wakeboard club:

The best idea in summer is to get out on the lake! Sailing boat, motor boat, jet ski or paddling boat (like in this case)! But do be aware not to jump in the water...2 seconds after Johanna did there was a police boat telling us off how illegal we were. And do be aware of getting underneath the jet d'eau - you'll get stuck there. And get wetter than wet.
